When the weather gets colder and day turns to dusk way before dinner, it can be a lot more difficult to emerge from your blanket cocoon, especially during the week. (Not speaking from experience or anything …)

But a soon-to-debut wellness series is going to help you change your winterly ways! Penn Medicine and the Penn Museum have partnered to bring you Mind & Mood Recharge, a new good-for-you program happening every first Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. this winter. Basically, it’s a healthy happy hour you’re not going to want to miss.

From November 1st through March 6th, Penn Museum’s majestic galleries will transform into self-care sanctuaries, with a rotating schedule of holistic health services from Philly-area practitioners.

Here’s who and what you can expect:

  • November 1st: All-levels yoga with Penn Recreation and a color cell creation workshop with Project Joy Studio.
  • December 6th: All-levels vinyasa led by Eunmi Chang and an expressive arts healing session with Shanina Dionna.
  • January 3rd & February 7th: All-levels yoga with Three Queens Yoga and sound-bath meditation facilitated by Eunmi Chang.
  • March 6th: All-levels yoga with Penn Recreation and sound-bath meditation facilitated by Eunmi Chang.

Each event will also feature a botanical bar serving herb-infused cocktails (both alcoholic and zero-proof) and small bites, plus a shoppable wellness marketplace. You can also take a “Museum Rx” self-guided tour, during which you can log your steps as you peruse galleries showcasing artifacts connected to centuries-old medicine and healing history.

“Museums can be spaces for healing and restoration,” says Christopher Woods, Penn Museum’s Williams director. “Many of our artifacts and contemporary objects represent living traditions of wellness that have been part of human culture for centuries, [and] Mind & Mood Recharge highlights our ever-evolving pursuit of health.”

Tickets cost $18 per session — with discounts for seniors and college students — and grant you after-hours access to all galleries and exhibitions. Penn Museum members and Penn Medicine patients and staff can enjoy the new wellness series at no cost.
