PHILADELPHIA — The Penn Museum has announced that all guests (age 5+) will be required to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination authorized by the United States Food and Drug Administration or by the World Health Organization along with a valid identification card, beginning Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in accordance with the latest mandate issued by the City of Philadelphia.

“The Penn Museum is committed to making archaeology and anthropology accessible to everyone. Maintaining a safe and healthy environment remains a top priority, which is why we have adjusted the Museum’s safety protocols to reflect the City’s new vaccination mandate,” says Melissa Smith, Deputy Director of Operations at the Penn Museum. “We are thrilled to gradually resume public in-person tours and programs, but it is only possible because we have strictly adhered to the well-planned safety precautions that have been in place since reopening in the Summer of 2020.”

Following the guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, face coverings continue to be required inside the Museum for all visitors (age 2+). Other safety measures include encouraging visitors to book timed-tickets online in advance, rigorous cleaning throughout the day, and promoting social distancing in the galleries.

Visitors who are unable to show proof of vaccination are welcome to enjoy the Penn Museum through its virtual experiences.
