PHILADELPHIA—In a thought-provoking one-man show, performance artist Ibrahim Miari portrays the complexities and contradictions inherent in a shared Israeli-Palestinian identity with "In Between," Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 11 at 2:00 PM at the Penn Museum, 3260 South St.

Miari, the son of a Palestinian Muslim father and a Jewish Israeli mother, recalls his childhood in Israel and explains how his life is defined “in between” two worlds.

The play touches on identity, culture, religion, traditions, and the ongoing tensions between different groups. After the show, Miari will offer a “talk back,” which welcomes the audience to ask questions, discuss issues the play brought up for them, and engage in dialogue with each other.

Tickets to the Thursday, December 8 evening performance include admission to the Penn Museum after 5:00 PM for an exclusive after-hours self-guided touring experience before the show. Cost: $20. Thursday tickets are available here.

Tickets to the Sunday, December 11 afternoon performance include all-day admission to the Museum. Cost: $20. Sunday afternoon tickets are available here.

The program connects with themes related to the Penn Museum’s new interactive, multi-sensory Eastern Mediterranean Gallery: Crossroads of Cultures, which showcases the historical innovations and enduring contemporary influence of this ancient cosmopolitan hub, which now encompasses Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Palestinian Territories, and Cyprus.
