Description | Sommerville: Oriental alabaster. The Via Trajana and the Triumphal Arch erected in that street by the Senate and the Roman people to the Emperor Trajan. The woman with a wheel in her hand represents the Via Trajana. Cameos, Case JJJJ. Vermeule: Oriental Alabaster. Cameo. (Unmounted) Copy from an Aurelian relief in the attic of the Arch of Constantine, Rome. Marcus Aurelius setting forth to war with the Porta Triumphalis in the background and the personification of the Via Aurelia at the lower right. |
